Because available head height was limited, the layout needed to be carefully considered to ensure the new rooms remained comfortable, practical and well connected to the rest of the property.
The Approach
The project required careful planning around the existing roof structure, with particular attention given to preserving as much usable head height as possible.
Goldhawk was also carrying out a loft conversion to the neighbouring property at the same time. Both homes had similarly low roof heights, so the two projects needed to be carefully coordinated while still responding to the individual layout and requirements of each property.
A rear dormer provided the additional volume required to create two bedrooms, while a new staircase established a practical connection with the existing accommodation below.
